First Day of Spring–and Guess What Else?

I’m celebrating two things today. I’m so glad it is the first day of spring, and–Ta-Da! Today is FINALLY my actual birthday!  After   twenty days of transitioning into a whole new decade,  I think I’m finally ready just to move on. I’ve come to a grand conclusion–all this celebrating and focusing on ME has been exhausting! So today I’m enjoying a slow-paced day with my granddaughters and expecting a few other family members to pop on over as well.  I’m very pleased and completely satisfied that I have had a great deal of birthday fuss and attention–even if I did make it impossible for anyone to ignore me!

I am also a little extra tired today because of a very full weekend. My daughter and her husband, as well as my son with his girlfriend teamed up and we took my party on the road! The six of us spent the weekend in Las Vegas, satisfying my one birthday wish for us all to share the Beatles. I have wanted to experience the theatrical interpretation of Beatles music at Cirque du Soleil’s LOVE since it opened at the Mirage Hotel and Casino five years ago. My patience was rewarded! It was indeed a special weekend for me to be with my husband and children, and since they love Beatles music, too, we all had a wonderful time.

I will be sharing more about our weekend with the full Beatles experience later this week–after I’ve rested just a bit.

But while you wait for more details, please enjoy what I’ve chosen as my song for the day! I guess it is still just a little bit about ME!

I hope you’ll join me in listening to some Beatles music today…I think you’ll feel a little younger!

Debra

    • Thank you for the birthday wish, Sharyn. I had never seen or heard this birthday clip either. I intended to just put up the Beatles birthday song we all know, and then found this. Fun to get it out there. I hope others with birthdays will use it, too. I love how young they are in it! Enjoy a new spring day! We have a cold, sunny morning! 🙂 Debra

    • Debra! Happy Happy Birthday! What a wonderful way to celebrate – Vegas-style! May the year ahead bring you much joy and special surprises! I have enjoyed getting to know you. -Deepali
(I meant to write this the other day, but my wordpress site wasn’t working!)

      • I’ll take greetings any day of the week, Deepali! Thank you! I’ve enjoyed you so much, too. I’m reading that others have had WordPress troubles, too. It sure throws off a reading and writing schedule, doesn’t it! 🙂 Bless you, Debra

  1. Happy happy birthday Debra! What a grand and glorious month it has been, and what FUN to go to see the Beatles show in Vegas! (My stepson was there recently and saw it too and REALLY loved it.) I will celebrate your SPECIAL day today and for the rest of March. Blow the trumpets and clang the cymbals! Sweet blessings on you today and always!

  2. I loved the Beatles! Sounds like a lot of Fun! A Birthday and the first day of spring I think it means new promises new life new hope and wonderful beauty!
    Love and miss you!
    Deb

    • Thank you, Jayme. You know what the best part of today was? Well, besides spending time with Sophia and Karina…I didn’t have to look at the clock! That’s such a gift of a good day 🙂 oxo Debra

  3. Hi Deb,
Enjoy your birthday!!! We LOVE the Beatles also. I’m glad you could go
“see” them in Las Vegas. Good choice!!! Have a great day, and hopefully
    we’ll see you soon!!!
    Love from us!!

    • Thank you so much, Kathy! We need to do a family reunion in Las Vegas! Oh the fun we would have! I think you and Mancill would really enjoy the show. We will see you soon, I’m sure. Thanks so much for the birthday greetings, my dear cousin! D

  4. Another big Beatles fan here, Debra, so I really envy you your trip and the show. I look forward to hearing more about it when you’ve finished celebrating your birthday with your family. Many happy returns of the day. 🙂

    • Thank you so much Perpetua. I have had a lovely birthday. I am really eager to sit down and share about this trip to Vegas. It is such an “over the top” city that I want to do it justice! There is almost no way to adequately describe it! I think there must be a whole generation of us who look back so fondly on the Beatles-era! I have been very nostalgic for the “boys” and their music. It will be fun for me to share! 🙂 Thank you for your birthday wishes! Debra

  5. A gift of the Beatles from you to us on your birthday, Debra. Yea! This did, indeed, make me feel younger as I remember their early days as they invaded the States. Oh, how young I was then, 13 or so! Yikes.

Happy Birthday, Debra. It only gets better and better. Enjoy.

    • I sometimes giggle when I think about how I felt “then” about the Beatles and their music, and in some ways, if I give it thought I can transport myself right back to that time! That’s powerful music 🙂 I’ve had a great birthday and it is now official…a new decade. LOL! I am sure it gets better and better…I’m grateful for my good health and loving friends and family. A good reason not to get stuck on a number 🙂 Blessings, Debra

    • Thank you so much, Martha! You continue to be a great encouragement. I’ve had a lot of fun reflecting upon the significance of a birthday and I feel a great sense of gratitude! Thanks for playing along with all my silliness–All About Me! Ha! D

    • I did have a great day! Thank you, Meg. I enjoyed a Beatles music day while keeping pace with two little girls! I feel such gratitude that my strength and health is such that I can do that without complaint! 🙂 Debra

  6. What a coincidence. I started my day with a Beatles song today as well! Happy birthday Debra!!!! I hope you have a wonderful day and an amazing year. 🙂

    • Thank you so much, Kristy! I did have a wonderful day. I’m a fortunate woman to have good health, a loving husband and children, grandchildren and both of my parents. So much goodness in my life makes facing a new decade much easier. I’m very blessed, too, to have such good blogging friends. What fun! Thank you for that! Debra

    • I think you may be right about that Rita. I don’t know the source at all, but that would almost have to be the case! I did have a wonderful birthday, and I’m eager to share more about the show with all my Beatles-loving friends! Later this week, for sure! Thank you for birthday wishes! Debra

  7. Happy Birthday, Your Majesty! I’m so glad that you were able to spend time with the other Royals doing what You love. With 11 more days to go, like all of your subjects, I cannot wait to see how the rest of the party unfolds.

    • Thank you so much, John. I got the tiara out again today. I thought the girls would like it, but I think they couldn’t quite figure out why in the world I would wear it. Very funny! I’ve had a very full party load for days now…it really is time to move on! But I am going to share pictures and stories from Las Vegas. I want everyone to have the chance to consider making the trip. As over-the-top as it is, it’s an amazing destination. Stay tuned 🙂 Thanks for your best wishes. It’s been so nice to share a birthday with my blogging friends! Debra

  8. Dear Debra, I’ve so enjoyed your postings about yourself in preparation for today’s birthday! And the Beatles rendition of Happy Birthday is a gift from the birthday girl to all of us. Thank you.

    Peace.

    • Thank you so much, Dee. I’m glad you have enjoyed participating in the birthday with me! I’ve had fun sharing. All of my blogging friends have made it an easier “crossing of the decade threshold”–and I’ve just loved connecting around the mutual enjoyment of the Beatles. We seem to all have good memories of the music of that time! I’ll be sharing a bit more about Las Vegas very soon! What a place! Debra

  9. Happy Birthday Debra! This is a wonderful decade! Enjoy it….and I saw Cirque de Soleil’s Love — fabulous! That was a great way to celebrate. When I was there Yoko Ono was two rows in front of me!

    • Oh my goodness! How fun to be seeing it with Yoko! Did you get distracted? I’d be watching her. LOL! It is great, isn’t it? I was more than patient…I bought the LOVE CD five years ago, and have wanted to go since the beginning! It’s been a fun birthday overall…and I’m so grateful for good friends, family and health…I’m happy to be able to enter the decade with a very full heart! Thank you, Kate! Debra

    • You are so kind, Kate. Thank you. I am enjoying myself immensely, and that’s a great thing to be able to say as one enters a new decade 🙂 It really pleases and delights me to enjoy the Beatles with so many other friends…all ages and all over the world. We all DO have great taste! I’m glad we share that 🙂 Debra

    • I did have such a good day, Andra. A simple day after so much activity. I needed simple! I am eager to share about Vegas. It was better than ever…how it keeps expanding just amazes me! I need to find a little time to sit down and write about it in a way that captures it well…and I’m not sure I’m up to that task. Hopefully pictures will help 🙂 I’m glad you’ve remained interested. Thank you! Debra

  10. Happy “zero” Birthday your Majesty. You know this is the first time I’ve sent birthday wishes to a member of the Royal household and I’m not sure whether one is allowed to be a day late with greetings…

I also love the Beatles. Paul was my guy – I had a huge poster of him on my closet door when I was a teenager.

    • I will take birthday greetings any day! I couldn’t get together with one of my closest friends and we determined that it was fine, I would be this age all year long, so belated was fine! My favorite Beatle was also Paul, although over the decades I’ve realized how much I loved the music George contributed. They were all very talented, really! My brother and his wife are fans that top me by far, and two years ago my mom and I found a signed poster from the movie “Yellow Submarine” and gave it to them for Christmas. It was quite a hit! 🙂 Thanks so much for stopping by, Rosanne! Debra

  11. It is the first day of spring and what a wonderful way to celebrate your special day. Happy Birthday to You!!!! 😉

    • Now that is artwork! My goodness, I don’t know how you did that, Elizabeth. That is so creative. Thank you so much for the visually lovely birthday greetings! I saw your reply to one of Beth’s posts and in case she doesn’t see it quickly, I’ll respond to your question about her car crash. She wrote about it only once, I think, but two years ago she was in a very bad accident and she is still recovering from injuries. One of the side effects is very bad headaches and at times, just a heavy “fog” that slows her down. She was fortunate to have survived the accident, but not without some remaining issues! She’s an amazingly resilient and upbeat woman, despite it all! She really is! Debra
