Have you missed me? Well, I’ve missed you.

It might be a little presumptuous to assume I’ve been missed at all, but I HAVE missed you.

I haven’t been on-line much over the last two weeks, and although being absent from the blogosphere contributes to a few more hours of found time, it wasn’t an entirely planned absence.

I had a brief illness that sidelined me for just a few days, but almost threatened to interfere with our yearly Central Coast family reunion– just almost!  Our original traveling plans came together, and we are headed home today, refreshed and genuinely recharged.

We’ll be home in just a short time, with a brief stop-over to pick up poor Zena–our dog with significant abandonment issues. I can’t wait to see  how she responds when we pick her up.

I expect a more routine week ahead, and I’ll be thinking about what photos and parts of our explorations and adventures I’ll share with you. We took a few side roads to see places we don’t ordinarily visit.

But you do remember this giant rock, don’t you?

I hope you’ve had a great weekend, too, and are genuinely refreshed and ready to take on the week.

  1. I am headed to the big rock next weekend for my mother’s 85th birthday. Carving out some extra time to spend in the Paso Robles wine region. Glad you are back and yes you are and were missed!

    • How wonderful to be celebrating your mom’s 85th, Bishop. Am I right that she lives in Los Osos? I just love this area, as you well know by now, and I am sure you will enjoy Paso Robles. We were invited to spend an extra day and get a little wine tasting in, but we really did need to get home. We promised Zena we’d be home Sunday afternoon. LOL! Enjoy your time in the beautiful Central Coast. I hope you’ll share about your time there. And again, happy birthday to your mom. What a blessing!

  2. Glad to have you back! Be sure to post about poor Zena too. Dogs are far worse than cats. When I get home all I get is, no one has fed us (a big lie) for the past week! Rub me! Scoop my poop! Cats are very basic.

    • Yes, Kate, poor Zena really was beside herself when she got home. She took one of her balls and ripped it to shreds, and grabbed a piece of chess out of my son-in-law’s hand, something she has NEVER done before. I am not sure that she ate much all weekend, either. She looks skinny! Poor thing. She had such an amazing caregiver, but she is completely bonded to my husband. I hope tomorrow she can put this whole weekend behind her. LOL! I know what you mean about cats. We’ve had cats in our lives before and when they’re unhappy they just let you know–they almost behave spitefully, which in turn means that I can be irritated. With Zena, I feel guilty! LOL! Have a great week, Kate.

  3. Hi Debra, glad to know you are back to ‘normal’ whatever that is, Zena will be so relieved to be home! Take good care of yourself and thanks for sending us some images full of fresh air! I am still in Paris but heading home midweek 🙂

    • Oh my goodness, Christine! Still in Paris. You’ll be glad to get home, I’m sure, but what memories you’re bringing with you. 🙂 I like the response back to normal, “whatever that is.” Such truth in that! LOL! All is well, and our poor little dog is so relieved. She practically collapsed in relief and has barely moved. LOL! I think we spoil her a bit too much. Hahaha! Enjoy the last of your wonderful journey, my friend. It seems to me that it has been quite magical!

  4. I did miss you, Debra, but haven’t been online much myself. Where does the time go? It is good to know you are feeling better and could make the yearly trip. Hope Zena greeted you with tail a-wagging – and look forward to maybe seeing you side trips
Breathing lighter on the Cutoff 🙂

    • I’m glad you had a good weekend, Penny. I don’t know about you, but my biggest problem is that my days are busy and I always think I’ll be able to do much more in the evening than tends to work out. Doggone it! My eyes just start crossing and closing entirely too early. LOL! And oh Miss Zena was so happy to be home. Poor thing really does seem to worry when she’s separated. Fortunately for her, we don’t travel away from home that often! Have a great week, my friend.

  5. I’m so sorry to hear you haven’t been well and yes, I certainly have missed you! Your images are gorgeous and that looks like a lovely place to unwind. My dogs also hate to be abandoned and one of them, who will remain nameless, likes to let us know by producing an ‘act of spite’. We’ll find a wee in an inappropriate place! xx

    • I’m doing fine now, Charlie, thank you. We enjoyed our time away. Zena never begs for food from the table, and tonight she literally snatched a piece of cheese out of my son-in-law’s hand! Maybe that was HER act of spite, huh? Poor dogs. I don’t like to leave Zena behind when we travel because it does tend to upset her, but sometimes it’s necessary. She’s sleeping at my feet right now and hasn’t moved in an hour! She’s content. 🙂

    • Thank you so much, John. I really miss making “my rounds” and keeping in touch. I am feeling so much better and had a wonderful weekend with family. I’m eager to share some of the photos from some very beautiful spots. 🙂

  6. I always miss you, Debra. I’m glad to hear you’re feeling better, though I’m sorry you were feeling poorly in the first place. I hope you’re settling in with the new home situation. I’m looking forward to photos from your reunion/respite.

Zena is resilient. She’s probably already recovered. 🙂

    • Thank you so much, Andra. I just hit a little wall and apparently needed rest badly. The situation at home is going very well! I’ll tell you more later. 🙂 Oh poor Zena. I’m not sure she ate all weekend, and she seems exhausted, but she had excellent care and was well loved by the young woman who cared for her. She is such a funny dog! She’ll be fine this week with her family close by. I hope you have a great week…I need to “pop over” and see what you’ve been up to. ox

    • Thank you so much, Colleen. I am feeling just fine–a minor problem with very poor timing. 🙂 I think if we could all sit in the solitude of some of these beautiful coastal, seaside towns, our daily stress would certainly be minimized. I hope you have a wonderful week, my friend.

  7. Been away myself, and that not from choice… a short sojourn in the hospital pretty well puts one so far behind that I had to mass delete blog notifications as I’d never catch up… but it sounds as though you have a few interesting posts to follow… so welcome back I did miss you….

    • I’m so glad you’re doing better, Rob. I know how sick you were and under those circumstances you couldn’t possibly keep up with anything extra in your life. A mass delete was less stressful than looking at all those unopened emails! I am looking forward to a good catch up this week. I missed my blogging routines, quite frankly. And thank you for the very kind response.

  8. I’m sorry you were ill :-/ But I am glad to hear that you’re better and that it didn’t interfere with your trip! That is the most awful of circumstances, when that happens.

I am definitely feeling refreshed from this weekend… ready to take on the week? We shall see 😉

    • I had a great weekend, Aussa, thank you! And i’m glad you also enjoyed yours. This week I should be able to come around and visit you at your place. 🙂 I will hopefully get an update on all that you’ve been doing. ox

    • Thank you, Nancy. We had such a wonderful time with family we only see once a year. Zena is exhausted and starving. LOL! I don’t think she rested or ate well, she was given wonderful care and she’s just a nervous Nelly. Now that she’s home, she’ll rebound quickly, I’m certain. These poor little neurotic pets.

  9. Glad that despite your brief illness you did not have to miss out on the yearly family reunion. I think most bloggers miss blogging a lot when they can’t do it for a while. Looking forward to see more of your pictures, dear Debra. 🙂

    • Thank you, Cathy. I’m doing much better and ready to be a lot more consistent. I miss my blogging friends when I’m away. And dear Zena had a rough time of it, I think, but she’s happy now, too. LOL!

    • Thank you for the link to Yvonne’s post and I loved hearing that she found Morro Bay and the Central Coast at least a little bit like her memories of Ireland. That was simply nice to hear. At least a couple of us made mention of her daughter perhaps going to college in that area! Maybe that will happen. I would love to have you come to California to see some of my favorite sites/sights, but I want to sign on to be your travel guide. Just another helpful suggestion. LOL!

  10. Hi Debra — so glad you’re feeling better and you were able to make the trip. I was worried — I thought WP had lost my “follow” for you. Hope you are rejuvenated! (I think your followers have the same abandonment issues as Zena!)

    • I must admit it is always nice to be missed, but I usually can at least stay in contact enough not to feel like I’ve just dropped off. I kept trying to post and respond and just couldn’t do it! All is well now, and I’m eager to be a bit more consistent. I do know the abandonment feeling in blogging, though. When blogging friends just slowly drift away I always feel a little let down. But unlike Zena, I continue to eat and don’t lose patches of hair–thankfully. 🙂 I appreciate the response, Kevin. I really do.

    • Thank you so much! You’ve been kind of quiet, too. 🙂 I stopped over to check on you a couple of times thinking maybe I’d missed a post. Life gets busy sometimes, doesn’t it!! Hope you’ve been well, but thank you so much for the very nice greeting. ox

  11. Growing up in Fresno we went there every year. Brings back a lot of memories. My best friend in high school had a beach house there. And we went camping with my parents and the kids when they where little. Thanks for the pictures glad you had a great time and are back safe and sound

    • Thanks so much, Sandy. I never pass through Pismo Beach without thinking of you! Never. 🙂 We stopped at the Dunes and spent a few hours with my camera. Lots to tell you about soon. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by. ox

  12. Glad you’re feeling better and welcome back .. but what????!!!!!! Zena didn’t go to Morro? She loves frolicking on the beach! I hope you didn’t tell her where you went!

    • Thank you, Barb. Yes, Zena was pretty excited when we pulled up. Poor thing…not sure she even ate while we were gone. She seemed half-starved. It’s lovely to be adored, but not at such a price. LOL!

    • I don’t think I’m making any secret of how much I love it up there! 🙂 The only question I ask myself is why we don’t go more often! Glad you had the opportunity, too, although I think you live in a nice part of the state, too, Tom. Hope you’re doing well.

  13. Poor Debra. I was hoping you were just away on holiday, and so you were, but with illness first. 😦 I’ve been absent from the blogosphere too and am now trying to catch up. 🙂

    • I’m feeling fine right now, Perpetua. Once in a while I just completely overdo it, and that happened again! LOL! Fortunately, I rebounded quickly. Getting caught up with my blog reading, however, is always challenging when I put it down for a few days. I really do want to read them…otherwise I’d just go through and click “like” and keep moving. I’m slow…but steady. 🙂

  14. I’m sorry to hear you were sick. I hope it wasn’t anything serious. It’s good that it didn’t interfere with your reunion! I’ve never had a pet but I do understand their issues. They are so much like humans. Maybe you can take here with you next time? Isn’t it nice to be missed? : – )
